Take Action
Here are some suggestions on how you can bring these teachings to life:
Campaign
If you want to take action and campaign on issues of great importance such as climate change find out how to become more involved with organisations: Progressio, Cafod and Operation Noah. You can also take action with a number of organisations focused on the MDGs – with less than five years left this action is essential to push forward with the goals set at the turn of the millennium.
Get Involved
Find out how you can become more involved with peace building; working to create a better world by joining the National Justice and Peace Network or working with Pax Christi. Become involved with Progressio; joining its online community and send messages of hope to Haiti this Christmas. Take more action with Cafod doing a sponsored event, by volunteering and getting involved as a young person.
livesimply parish award
If your parish cares about the environment, supports people in need at home and overseas and enjoys the chance to put faith into action it could be eligible for the livesimply parish award – a national prize for Catholic parishes making a difference in the community and the world.
Stay Informed
Keep yourself informed with what is going on in the world today; find out accurate news coverage from a range of Catholic sources such as: the Independent Catholic News, Media Centre, think tank Ekklesia and receive regular communications from Justice and Peace eNews.
Prayer
In this section you can find a range of tips provided by the Jesuits on how to pray effectively, you can also see websites that can help guide you with relevant scripture if you are stuck on reflection while praying, as well as sites which provide prayers and resources for different occasions and seasons.
Volunteer
You can make a meaningful contribution by volunteering overseas or in the UK. Find out about volunteering overseas with Bosco Volunteer Action and Jesuit Missions or for voluntary opportunities in the UK in your own parish with Missio or start a Justice and Peace group.
Work for the Catholic Church
You can become more involved with the Catholic Church by offering your services. Here you can find out more on becoming a Street Pastor, how to set up a local CARJ group to support and empower black and minority ethnic Catholics. If you wanted to take a step further you could become a Jesuit offering your skills to the Society of Jesus.
