Cooperante en procesos participativos de políticas públicas del recurso hídrico, (convenio de cooperación de dos años), basado en San Salvador, El Salvador (25 Feb 2009 )
La persona cooperante apoyará el fortalecimiento de la capacidad de la Unidad Ecológica Salvadoreña (UNES) en la formulación de una Política Nacional del Recurso Hídrico, con la que se gestione el agua de forma sustentable; garantizando la calidad, disponibilidad, y acceso equitativo para la población actual y futura al recurso natural. Buena parte del esfuerzo se destinará a proponer una institucionalidad adecuada para la gestión del agua en el país. También tendrá como responsabilidades apoyar el fortalecimiento de un espacio concertado para impulsar la aprobación de la Política Nacional del Recurso Hídrico y contribuir a posicionar en el debate público la problemática del agua, visibilizando los efectos diferenciados para mujeres y hombres.

Membership Assistant, £21,309 pa pro rata, permanent contract, part time (21 hours per week), based in Islington, London (22 Feb 2009 )
You will be a natural communicator, with a proactive attitude, great attention to detail and previous administrative experience. You will have an interest in international development, and be interested in promoting Progressio’s work, while working towards increasing our membership and supporter base. The post holder will join an active and creative Communications Department to provide support to our growing membership outreach and fundraising programme. A self-starter, you will ensure the effective administration of Progressio’s membership details and database and work with the Supporter Development Officer, researching trusts and major donors, and assisting in organising fundraising events and initiatives. You will work with others in providing support for events and other activities geared for membership.

Volunteer Placement – Monitoring and Evaluation (English and Spanish) (two days per week), based in Islington, London (16 Feb 2009 )
The volunteer will work very closely with the Programme Coordinators and Programme Support Officer to assist with processing monitoring and evaluation reports that we receive from our country offices and formatting, editing and rewriting this information for different uses and audiences.

Yemen Country Representative, full time, 12 month contract (with the possibility of an extension), £19,500 per annum (gross), plus other benefits, based in Sana’a, Yemen (11 Feb 2009 )
We are looking for a highly motivated, confident and resourceful individual with a genuine commitment to development and advocacy, seeking to work in a cutting edge development agency with local partners, development workers and other stakeholders addressing poverty, exclusion and injustice in Yemen. The post holder will be responsible for managing the country programme in Yemen (this includes human resources, financial and programme management) and ensuring the delivery of programme plans. S/he will have a pivotal role in defining development policy and priority areas for Progressio’s work in the country, including the development of new work to address environmental issues in Yemen. Within the context of Progressio’s work of skill-sharing and advocacy, the post holder will oversee the development of the programme.

Cooperante en estrategias de contraloría ciudadana para la gobernabilidad local (convenio de cooperación de dos años), en Perquín, Departamento de Morazán, El Salvador (11 Feb 2009 )
La persona cooperante apoyará a la Asociación Patronato para el Desarrollo de las Comunidades de Morazán y San Miguel (PADECOMSM) en la capacitación a los Comités de la Población y a los Gobiernos Locales en temas de transparencia y rendición de cuentas, fortaleciendo las capacidades de la ciudadanía para que pueda ejercer la contraloría de la transparencia de la gestión pública local y, de esa manera, para que se fomente la cultura de la rendición de cuentas de los gobiernos que conforman la Asociación de Municipios del Norte de Morazán (AMNM).

Development Worker – Advocacy and Communications (two-year placement), based in Lima, Peru (10 Feb 2009 )
The aims of this placement are to: a) strengthen the advocacy and communications capacity of the Peruvian Centre for Social Studies (CEPES); b) strengthen the capacity of CEPES’s work on water issues, particularly with regards to advocacy planning, campaigning, research, policy analysis and media work within Peru; c) as most of our partners work in networks the Development Worker (DW) may be requested to support the strengthening of the advocacy and communications capacity of other partner organisations working on the same theme in Peru; d) produce communication materials on themes such as water and climate change; e) strengthen Progressio’s international and regional advocacy on water and climate change through local research, policy dialogue, opinion sharing, case studies, developing communications material and contributing to international campaigns. The DW’s time will be divided as follows: 50 per cent: to liaise with CEPES; 50 per cent: to liaise with Progressio, contributing to the organisation’s communications, advocacy work and institutional learning.
