I’m very much looking forward to meeting some of Progressio’s members and supporters at our special event on 17 Sept. It will be a great opportunity to engage with members and supporters, and to hear your thoughts and ideas as to ways ahead for us.
We hope to be able to welcome a special guest – Suad Abdi, from Somaliland, is due to join us. Suad used to work with Nagaad, a leading women’s organisation in Somaliland, and is a powerful woman in her own right. Suad is now heading up our country programme in Somaliland.
We are very lucky to have her working with us, and it will be great to hear her reflections on the situation facing the Horn of Africa at the moment.
Aside from Suad, this will be an opportunity to chat with other members of the staff team about their work, including finding out about our new campaign on water.
But it’s not just about meeting us – we want to meet you too, and hear what you think! That’s why it’s an afternoon of discussions and workshops. Just like it is between our development workers and the people and communities they work with, we want our relationship with our members and supporters to be a two-way conversation.
The supporter event follows on from our annual general meeting (which is from 1.30 to 2.30pm). In the past we’ve had high-profile speakers and an evening event. This year’s event is different – but hopefully more of an opportunity to engage with the organisation a bit more.
Obviously, depending on where you live, it will be easier for some to come than others. But there are still spaces and we’d love to see you there! Just click here to find out more and book your space.
I’d also welcome your thoughts about this event and whether we have another.
You know we had a tough year last year, and we’ve been making plans to improve our fundraising efforts. The work we do is so impressive and effective, it’s vital that as many people as possible can support us so it can continue.
If you’re a member or supporter, then thank you!! If not, would you consider supporting us?
Either way, I hope to see you on 17 September.
Best wishes,
Christine
